If I am to be like Christ
then start me out as bread.
Let Your substance waft through me
as hungry souls get fed.

Then take me to yourself
and break the hardened crust.
Reveal the soft flavor within,
increasing mutual trust.

Bless the vulnerable insides
as You savor, stretch, and grow.
Teach this bread to teach the flour
to trust You, and to know.

Will You then share my brokenness
to those who need restored?
I could never stretch so far
as when you make me more.

Then I pray when it’s time
You’d take me back to You,
and enjoy the meal this bread could make
through all that You accrued.
