I’m taking off the gloves, Lord –
I’m laying bare my hands
Revealing callouses and hurt
to the One who understands

Your acceptance welcomes me
to bare my soul some more
Shoes and socks are stripped from feet
once scared to touch the floor

Again, Your love embraces
the sweat, the dirt, the stench
Welcoming each and every part
my pride (or shame) kept clenched

Dancing now, my fears have ceased –
You’ve brought me on this path
Where grace and freedom cover me while
I’m waltzing in my underpants.
